DESCRIPTION

Launched in 2023, The Hearach (Gaelic for native of Harris) is a small-batch whisky from the Isle of Harris distillery and the first legal single malt to be released from the Hebridean Isle of Harris. The Hearach Oloroso Cask Matured is the second permanent expression within the range, launched in 2024, exactly one year after the distillery’s inaugural single malt. Matured exclusively in first-fill ex-Oloroso casks. Each batch is around 12,000 bottles with a light peat level (12-15ppm). Non-chillfiltered, naturally coloured and bottled at 46%. OFFICIAL TASTING NOTES

Nose: Winter aromas of cinnamon, orange peel, and cloves, and there are green notes of mixed herbs and the creaminess of white chocolate.

Palate: Wood smoke and walnut shells. The dram develops with a herbal hint of dried thyme closely followed by burnt oranges. Spices then come through, like vanilla pods and a subtle sense of cloves.

Finish: A long leather and liquorice finish.
