Linkwood Single Malt Whisky

Linkwood is a Speyside distillery on the outskirts of Elgin, known for its light, elegant and fragrant spirit, long valued by blenders. Founded in 1821 and beginning production in 1825, the site was significantly expanded in the 1870s under William Brown and later became part of Scottish Malt Distillers, now Diageo.

A major refurbishment in the early 1960s modernised operations while preserving spirit character, with new stills built as exact replicas of the originals. In 1971 a second stillhouse—Linkwood B—was added, bringing combined capacity to around 2.5 million litres. Aside from a brief closure in the late 1980s, production has remained steady.

Although only a small share is bottled as single malt, Linkwood is appreciated by enthusiasts for its graceful, fruit-led profile and is well represented through independent bottlers.
