Tamdhu Single Malt Scotch Whisky

The Tamdhu distillery is located in the village of Knockando in Banffshire, Scotland and comes from Gaelic for "little dark hill". Founded in 1896, the first malt whisky was distilled and casked in 1897. The history of the distillery has been fairly quiet, without changing owners as often as most of it's peers, but was still marked by a long dormancy between 1927 and 1947. Although historically known as an important component in many blends (Famous Grouse, J&B, Cutty Sark), in recent years Tamdhu has been garnering the attention of malt lovers with the distillery's exclusive use of ex-sherry casks for maturation.
