A limited release of Burnside blended malt, by Halcyon Spirits independent bottlers. Burnside is a 'teaspooned' malt, produced by adding a teaspoon of single malt from the Glenfiddich distillery to single malt from the Balvenie distillery (preventing it from being sold as a single malt under the distillery's name). Distilled in 1996, matured for 27 years, including a finishing period in an ex-sherry cask, and bottled in 2024. Only 292 bottles were produced. Non-chillfiltered, naturally coloured and bottled at a cask strength of 52.9%. (Bottle size 70cl)

Nose: Subtle citrus of smooth lemon, with tropical kiwi fruit and a little gooseberry tartness. Softness of pear and heather honey sweetness, followed by raisin and sultana.

Palate: Balanced richness from the sherry and vanilla custard with honey-drizzled pear. Coconut and banana meld the oaky spice back to the sweet sherry and vanilla. Dry tobacco leaf and liquorice. A medium body that coats the mouth well, with a pleasing unctuousness.

Finish: The sweetness diminishes to ginger spice and dry tobacco leaf, but the underscored sweetness travels all the way to the end.
