DESCRIPTION

Ballechin is the name of the heavily-peated whisky produced at the Edradour distillery, peated to at least 50ppm with Highland peat. This is the 2nd small batch release of the 18yo, matured in a combination of sherry and bourbon casks, and released in September 2024. Non-chillfiltered, naturally coloured and bottled at cask strength of 57.8%.

TASTING NOTES

Nose: Intense peat smoke paired with spicy oak, followed by strong aromas of fresh malt sweets and ripe dark fruits.

Palate: Complex and round with clear notes of peat and malt, then again the dark fruits, especially plums and cherries, paired with chocolate and toffee.

Finish: Long on the finish with lots of peat and oak wood, the fruits and chocolate are accompanied by barley malt.
