DESCRIPTION
A permanent release from Glengyle Distillery in Campbeltown, though produced in limited quantities and therefore not always available. After several years of Work in Progress expressions, the standard Kilkerran 12 Year Old was first launched in 2016. Matured predominantly in a mix of 70% ex-bourbon and 30% ex-sherry casks — though proportions vary slightly between batches — this whisky showcases a lightly peated (12–15ppm), coastal Campbeltown style. Non-chillfiltered, naturally coloured and bottled at 46%. (Bottle size 70cl)
TASTING NOTES
Nose: Sweet confectionery notes of Turkish delight, pear drops and marzipan, with hints of subtle peat smoke like toasted marshmallows by a campfire.
Palate: Zesty citrus of lemon cheesecake and an oiliness typical of Campbeltown, followed by peat smoke, leather-bound books, peppery spice and sticky toffee pudding.
Finish: Lingering peat smoke reminiscent of campfire embers, balanced by sweet notes of pecan pie and butterscotch.
