NOTES FROM THE WB TEAM
A teaspooned malt refers to a single malt whisky with a small amount (literally a teaspoon) of whisky from another distillery added before bottling. This practice legally reclassifies it as a blended malt, preventing it from being sold as a single malt from its original distillery while keeping its core character intact. Burnside is the name typically used for teaspooned Balvenie, created by adding a small amount of Glenfiddich. Though technically a blended malt, it is, in essence, Balvenie in style and quality.
