DESCRIPTION
A bi-annual small batch release from the Glengyle distillery in Campbeltown, produced as part of the distillery’s Heavily Peated range. In contrast to the typically lightly peated house style, these releases use malt peated to 45ppm. This 12th edition was matured in a combination of ex-bourbon (90%) and ex-sherry (10%) casks. Non-chillfiltered, naturally coloured and bottled at cask strength of 58.4%. (Bottle size 70cl)
TASTING NOTES
Nose: Creamy butterscotch and caramel, with rye bread and delicate tea leaf notes.
Palate: Rich and oily with core smokiness, Iberico ham and sweet brandy snaps.
Finish: Gentle and persistent with lemon sherbet, honeycomb, mint, and lingering peat smoke.
NOTES FROM THE WB TEAM
Long-time Kilkerran fans will notice this release has returned to the traditional ‘tall and round’ bottle, first used for the early Kilkerran bottlings. In more recent years, the Springbank-style bottle was adopted as the standard. This reversion is temporary and will remain in place until supply of the Springbank bottle is available again, following a shortage caused by a fire at the glass factory that produces it.
